In his speech at the climate conference, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the current environment problems are caused by capitalism and materialism that rule the world.

“Our planet has suffered the worst of Greenhouse gas emission,” Press TV quotes Iranian President. He also supported Kyoto Protocol, calling to cut anthropogenic greenhouse pollution in the atmosphere.

December 17, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Copenhagen to participate in the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

According to the source, Ahmadinejad also touched upon U.S. policy in the course of his meeting with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou on the Copenhagen summit sidelines. He noted that Obama is “going down the same road” as his predecessor Bush and merely speaks of changes. “So far, Mr. Obama has only talked of bringing change to Washington, but US policies are not much different from before,” the source quotes Ahmadinejad.

During his visit to Copenhagen, Iranian President met with a number of leaders, including his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.
