Today, July 18, trilateral presidential meeting of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia will be held in Moscow in the context of Sargsyan-Aliyev’s yesterday negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.

“Due to recent positive impulses imparted to Nagorno-Karabakh issue settlement, Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan expressed interest in continuation of the meetings on this matter. We appreciate the open approach of the presidents and support this process,” said RF President’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Sergey Prikhodko commenting on the July 17 Armenian-Azerbaijani leaders’ bilateral meeting.

Prikhodko declared that basic principles of Nagorno-Karabakh peace process will be discussed at the impending meeting.

“The G-8 Summit presidential statement of Russia, US and France on Nagorno-Karabakh issue will impart a positive impulse to the peace process,” Prikhodko stated, pointing out that the document specifies the mediators’ commitment to assist Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents to reach agreement on basic principles of the conflict settlement. Also, OSCE Minsk Group states charged mediators to submit an updated version of the Madrid document as of November 29, 2007 with latest basic principles’ proposals to the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
