Unlike previous seven years, within the expiring year the number of road accidents decreased, RA Traffic Police head Margar Ohanyan said at the Dec.29 press conference.

According to him, as a result of 1.978 accidents in 2009, all in all 324 people died and 2724 got injured.

The policeman outlined that last year 2.178 road accidents were registered, that entailed death of 406 citizens and 3.082 wounded. Ohanyan noted that in 2007 police detected and registered 220.000 traffic violations, in 2008 – 441.599, whereas in 2009 – 650.000 cases.
