According to first official data, death toll in Jan. 12 disastrous earthquake in Haiti reached 7000 people. Over 7000 bodies were retrieved under the collapsed buildings.

According to Red Cross, death toll in Haiti devastating quake will apparently reach 45.000-50.000.

The situation in the country’s capital Port-au-Prince is critical. Streets of the city are still lined with bodies of the dead.

Haitians are fearful to return to their homes as aftershocks still continue. Local residents slept outside for a second night. Rescue operations are underway in the city, however the situation becomes complicated due to mass destructions and absence of winding machines.

International aid starts pouring in Haiti from the countries all over the globe.

As NEWS.am reported previously, January 12, 2010 a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti followed by 5.9 and 5.5 aftershocks.
