The Wall Street Journal apologized to the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for incorrect interpretation of his words in an interview published July 20. Official Tbilisi stated that some words of Saakashvili were distorted.

“It means the Russians fought for the right reasons…,” "the hopes of Georgia joining NATO are “almost dead…,” “ we can hardly return South Ossetia and Abkhazia”-here are some interpretations of the President words, that caused his and allies’ indignation. Saakashvili was strongly criticized by Georgiy Targamadze, the leader of “Christian-Democratic Movement”.

However Saakashvili informed that The Wall Street Journal has already presented their apologies to the Georgian President.

According to Giorgi Bokeria, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Saakashvili stated in his interview that it will be tragic if Russia achieves the obstruction of Georgia joining NATO.
