Capital of Azerbaijan – Baku heads the list of 30 dirtiest cities in the world according to the international rating company NYC Partnership Consulting.

The rating was based on several criteria: air pollution, drinking water quality, recycling and utilization rates, affordability of health care and medical supplies, as well as rate of infectious diseases spread.

The list mainly comprises African and several Asian countries. Moscow (Russia) rates twelfth, Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) – 16th, Baghdad (Iraq) – 20th, Almaty (Kazakhstan) – 25th and Tehran (Iran) – 29th.

Strikingly, in 2008 Baku was also topping the list of dirtiest cities of the planet. At that, this time it scored 4.2 points lower (worse) than 2 years before (23.4 points in 2010 and 27.6 – in 2008).
