“Armenian Foreign Minister was in a way right stating that Armenia did not agree to sign Madrid documents or principles,” Richard Giragosian, the Director of the Center for National and International Studies, told NEWS.am. Commenting on yesterday’s statement of Edward Nalbandyan, expert said that Armenia tries to use Madrid Principles as a basis for negotiations.

“This time I agree with Foreign Minister. Indeed, Armenia and Azerbaijan disagreed to Madrid Principles, but merely contented to meet and discuss them,” Giragosyan stated. “Everybody even OSCE Minsk Group members realize that any attempt to return Karabakh to Azerbaijan will break out a new war. It is impossible and dangerous.” He is confident, that Karabakh’s self-determination issue was resolved much earlier and currently the only thing is whether Karabakh will get the status of independent state or join Armenia.
