U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon’s statement that U.S. welcomes controversial ruling of RA CC judgment on the Protocols is a distinctive pressure on Turkey, just as the statements by RF President Dmitry Medvedev and FM Sergei Lavrov that the Protocols’ ratification and Karabakh conflict settlement are not interrelated, Political scientist Artak Shakaryan told NEWS.am.

He expressed confidence that with this statement American side signaled Turkey that RA CC decision does not change the spirit of the Protocols in any way. “It is a response to the statements by Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu that the process is allegedly slowed down by Armenian side,” Shakaryan concluded.
