The state of Tigran Arakelyan health, an active member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), has dramatically worsened. He got hit with barrel on the head, that caused severe headaches and impaired his left-eye sight. Presently, Arakelyan is in prison hospital.

“When I close my eyes, I feel giddy. My eyesight also worsened, particularly the left eye,” Arakelyan told NEWS.am.

His health worsened to the extent, that doctors did not even send him to medical examination. “I have explicitly demanded either change of the restraint or the treatment I could take if was free. The fact I am here proves that I am a victim. They were afraid of keeping me in prison as at the moment my state is unpredictable,” Arakelyan said.

After the detention on July 8, a forensic medical expert certified that Arakelyan had a deep head wound. On the other hand, the police officer from the RA Kentron
(Center) Police department Erik Poghosyan, who allegedly had beaten Arakelyan up, had a head bandage on confrontation day. “If he had stitches on his head, he was to have black eyes as well. His looked healthy, spoke quite well and was in a great shape,” Arakelyan emphasized.

Tigran Arakelyan was among the young people charged with acts of hooliganism against law-enforcers on July 1.

Giving an interview to NEWS.am, he pointed out that he believes Head of RA Kentron Police Department Ashot Karapetyan to be a mastermind behind the campaign against him and his friends and to his mind President Serzh Sargsyan is not aware of it.

If the Court of Cassation does not change the restraint imposed on him, he will consider “Serzh Sargsyan personally ordered to settle the score with oppositionists”.
