Starting February 1, 2010 Azerbaijani citizens will have a visa-free entry to Iran, APA informs referring to chief of consular department of Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan Behruz Zare Mirzaye.

According to him, Azerbaijani citizens willing to visit Iran can get health certificates in Baku, Ganja and Lankaran clinics for 18 AZN only.

“If Azerbaijanis want to stay in Iran for more than 15 days, they can appeal to the Migration Service of Iranian Interior Ministry and get permission for a three-month stay,” source quotes diplomat.

Mirzaye added that presently consular departments issue visas to about 200-250 Azerbaijanis each day. “I hope the number of the Azerbaijanis traveling to Iran will be increased after the visa travel is cancelled,” he outlined.

Meanwhile, he said “Iran hopes that Azerbaijan will also cancel visa travel for the Iranian citizens,” source reads. Mirzaye stated that visa regime for the Azerbaijanis living 45km away from Iran-Azerbaijan border is also lifted.
