A large portion of Tbilisi population (76%) wishes to join NATO. Under the survey conducted by NATO Information centre polled 1500 people on their attitude towards the alliance.

23% of respondents consider that Georgia should be EU-oriented, whereas 16% – US-oriented.

42.9% of the pollees were for sending Georgian troops to Afghanistan and 44.7% – against.

As much as 34% deem that August 2008 war impeded Georgia to join NATO, whereas 14% blame authorities’ domestic policy for this.
