Russia is ready to discuss the resumption of air communication with Georgia after setting a number of technical issues, stated Andrey Nesterenko, official representative of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

There are no major obstacles to resuming air communication on Russia’s part. It involves prior agreements between the Russian and Georgian aviation authorities about a number of technical aspects, particularly flight schedules, Nesterenko said.

Nestertenko also pointed out the need for agreeing on an order of repaying debts for navigation services rendered by the Russian side to Georgian airlines.

“If the Georgian side is interested, we are ready to hold relevant talks,” Nesterenko said.

Recently the Russian sides satisfied a Georgian airline’s request for four charter flights during the Christmas holidays. “We considered the humanitarian importance for numerous Russian and Georgian citizens, including families,” Nesterenko said.
