In the course of OSCE presidency, Kazakhstan will spare no effort into the solution of protracted conflicts, particularly on the territory of former Soviet republics, Kanat Saudabayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and Chairman-in-Office for the OSCE said at the UN Security Council meeting in New York.

Saudabayev stressed that Kazakhstan hopes to give impetus to the efforts of partners involved in this complex process “considering common history and mental closeness.”

OSCE Chairman also underlined that close monitoring of protracted conflicts will be conducted and preventive mechanisms of the OSCE will be used to avert any signs of escalation.

Saudabayev also informed that he intends to visit Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia in mid February.

According to KazInform, Saudabayev met with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York. The officials discussed efficiency and prospects of Kazakhstan-UN cooperation as well as upcoming visit of the Sec. Gen. to Kazakhstan aimed at giving new impetus to the areas of cooldown.
