At the dinner with Ambassadors of EU member states Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan touched upon resolution commended by European Parliament demanding that Turkey withdraws its troops from Cyprus. “Are they blind? They do not see justice but some day they will need it as well,” Erdogan underlined. According to Turkish euractiv website, this statement startled even State Minister and chief negotiator Egemen Bagis.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry, the report “Essentially takes a one-sided stance, which may only affect negatively the accession process and includes points that do not correspond to the realities.”

As NEWS.am reported earlier, the European Parliament group unanimously approved the report, stressing that the Turkish Government must create a favorable atmosphere at the negotiations by immediately withdrawing its troops from the northern sector. The Euro MPs also expressed regret that Turkey for 4 consecutive years refuses to adhere riders to EU customs protocol provisions providing for the opening of ports and airports to all EU states, including Republic of Cyprus.
