British writer Dick Francis died

Renowned British writer Dick Francis died at the age of 89 in the Cayman Islands where he had a home.

Dick Francis was a horse racing crime writer and retired jockey. In 40s and 50s he was one of the most popular British jockeys and a personal jockey of the Queen Mother – widow of Georg VI. After quitting sport he also worked as sport reporter and started writing books.

Francis was the author of more than 40 novels translated into 20 languages.
