February 16, the 8th congress of Union of Erkrapah Voluntaries opened in RA Parliament chamber.

The event aims at hearing the report on union’s activities since 2006 as well as election of new chairman and board members. In all probability, the organization will become a pro-governmental structure. According to NEWS.am information, Manvel Grigoryan will be reelected to chairman’s post, expelling those who acceded to opposition during the 2008 presidential elections. It proves the fact that Deputy Chairman of Erkrapah Myasmnik Malkhasyan and other oppositional representatives were not invited to the congress.

At that, RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan, Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, Yerevan Deputy Mayor Taron Margaryan and other high-ranking officials were invited to the event.
