Turkey stands chances to mediate between Iran and West on nuke program, the head of Iranian studies department at Yerevan State University Garnik Asatryan told NEWS.am.

According to him, Iran and Turkey have good relations and nothing prevents Ankara from mediating the talks, as this scenario is desirable for Washington as well. The expert explains Turkey’s aspiration to become a mediator by Ankara’s desire to increase its geopolitical role in the region.

Commenting on the recent statement by secretary general of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights Mohammad Larijani about country’s intension to supply nuclear fuel to neighboring states, Asatryan said the scenario seems realistic. He also emphasized that Tehran will definitely convince Washington and Europe in necessity of its “peaceful atom” program implementation.
