No conflict resolution can be reached without Nagorno-Karabakh’s equal involvement in the negotiations – said Arpi Vartanian, Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) Country Director for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

"We urge OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the United States, in particular, to ensure the fulfillment of President Barack Obama's campaign pledge “to work for a lasting and durable settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that is agreeable to all parties, and based upon America's founding commitment to the principles of democracy and self determination,” declared Ms Vartanian.

She says security of Karabakh population is a key concern, no matter what agreement the parties reach. It is crucial, that talks on Nagorno Karabakh and Armenian-Turkish relations go on, despite Azerbaijani President’ war rhetoric. Ms Vartanian emphasized that public opinion and judgment of Armenian society should be heard as they really matter.

AAA addressed the July 23 statement to OSCE MG Co-Chairs and US President Barack Obama urging them to ensure that the Government of Nagorno Karabakh joins the peace process talks as soon as possible.
