Turkey should always be one step ahead for peace in relations with Armenia, said Robert Wexler — former US congressman from Florida and co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on US-Turkish Relations, Today’s Zaman reports.

Speaking at the conference “Model Partnership: Creative Approaches to US-Turkey Relations” held in Washington, Wexler underlined that “one step ahead for peace” policy declared by Turkish Premier Erdogan regarding Cyprus issue should also be adopted concerning Armenia.

Former Congressman also welcomed the steps and political risks taken by both countries’ leadership to normalize relations, adding that reconciliation will be advantageous for Turkey and its friends in U.S.
