March 9, the first victims of yesterday’s earthquake will be buried in Turkey, Radio Mayak reports.

According to latest data, the death toll reached 57, more than 70 people got injured.

Three settlements in Elazig and Bingol provinces were strongly affected by the earth shocks. Several buildings and minarets collapsed in these areas.

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said 5.9 and 5.5 magnitude aftershocks were the strongest. The quake epicenter was 40 km west of Bingol city, at the depth of 10 kilometers.

Meanwhile, according to Bosphorus University Observatory & Earthquake Research Institute seismologists, new tremors are expected. The strongest earth shocks may hit Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul, RFE/RL informs.
