RA Criminal Court of Appeal upheld the verdict against chief editor of Haykakan Zhamank daily Nikol Pashinyan.

The court denied request on charges of finding Pashinyan guilty under 1part of 316 article of RA Criminal Code as well as the motion to release him. The court passed judgment on granting amnesty for Nikol Pashinyan, thus he will be sentenced to 3.5 years’ imprisonment instead of 7.

January 19, the verdict against oppositional Haykakan Zhamanak daily chief editor Nikol Pashinyan was delivered in the Nork-Marash district court. He was accused of organization of mass unrests and use of force against a policeman. Pashinyan was acquitted by the court under RA Criminal Code article 316 (use of force against authority), however he was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment under the 255 article (organization of mass riots).
