Outgoing Armenian Ambassador to Romania Yeghishe Sargsyan held a meeting with Romanian President Traian Băsescu and other officials. The press service of the RA Foreign Office told NEWS.am the Romanian leader thanked the Armenian Ambassador for his contribution to the bilateral relations and cooperation. The sides expressed the confidence that an official visit RA President Serzh Sargsyan is to pay to Romania this year will facilitate further development of bilateral relations.

At the Romanian leader’s request, Ambassador Sargsyan informed him of the present stage of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and Armenian-Turkish reconciliation.

Ambassador Sargsyan also held a meeting with President of the Romanian Senate Mircea Geoană. The sides underlined the importance of bilateral parliamentary ties and the possibility of new programs. At a farewell meeting with Patriarch Daniel, the RA Ambassador and the Patriarch discussed the traditional ties between the sister churches and prospects for development.
