Azerbaijan again counts its chicken before they are hatched. Azerbaijani Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov declared that they are ready to start the refugee return process to their former places of residence. However, it will start only when Karabakh final peace agreement is signed.

“From political viewpoint, talks on the peace process recently progressed, that is already visible. We are all looking forward to the peace agreement,” Ali Hasanov told journalists, July 28. He pointed out that it a year ago they completed the elaboration of “program on return, agreed with international organizations, embassies, international financial institutions with all ministries and offices”.

Hasanov outlined that in the first stage the relocation will be performed “in one direction” with further opening of “other territories”, adding they have no obstacles for launching this program.

It is unclear yet, whether Armenian Government also works on the program of Armenian refugees return to Azerbaijan.
