RA President Serzh Sargsyan will arrive in Turkey only in the case if Armenian-Turkish border is open or Armenia is on the threshold of unblocking. Serzh Sargsyan stated at the joint press conference with Serbian President Boris Tadic who is on an official visit in Yerevan.

Not much time is left till Turkey-Armenia match, that is why the President hopes that the improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations will enable Turkish authorities to make constructive decisions and create appropriate conditions for Sargsyan to accept the invitation to the match. During his meeting with Serbian President, Sargsyan presented the details of negotiations with Turkey, as well as told about the progress in Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. The President still considers that regional conflicts should be settled through peaceful negotiations, on the basis of international principles of law. “There is no universal method of conflict settlement,” he outlined and stated the negotiations on each conflict have their own reasons, particular development and corresponding solutions. It is impossible to find a just solution without due account of all peculiarities.

During the meeting Armenian and Serbian Presidents discussed the current stage of Armenian-Serbian relations and cooperation in the framework of international organizations. Armenian counterpart particularly underlined the significance of the collaboration in economy and trade sectors. In his turn Boris Tadic stated that Serbian delegation will meet with Armenian officials and negotiate on economic and cultural issues. Global crisis has seriously affected both countries’ economy, that is why along with the efforts to maintain economy, both Presidents should support each other as economic processes in Serbia and Armenia has much in common.

On 28 July Serbian President Boris Tadic arrived in Armenia on a two-day official visit at Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation. Serbian President invited Serzh Sargsyan to Serbia, pointing out football match is not needed for that arrival, like in case with Turkey. But even if Sargsyan’s visit concurs with the second Armenian-Serbian match, Tadic hopes the footballers will play better and not draw like last time in Armenia.
