Sweden will not allow the resolution on recognition of Armenian Genocide to have a negative impact on Turkey-Sweden relations, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said in the course of telephone conversation with his Turkish Counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, TRT reports.

Reinfeldt expressed regret over the adoption of the resolution, emphasizing that Sweden will continue to support Turkey in all issues, including Turkey’s EU accession bid.

Parliaments cannot rewrite history, Erdogan noted adding that Turkey provided historical archives to all scholars, firstly historians for scientific researches.

According to him, such political initiatives result from ignorance and prejudices and cripple historical and scientific studies, as well as Turkey’s comprehensive efforts to establish peace in the region.
