Critical report on human rights in Azerbaijan by the U.S. State Department corresponds to reality, Azerbaijani Parliament MP and Umid party member Igbal Agazade told Vesti.az.

“I fully concur with human rights report by State Department,” he noted.

According to him, the report is based on the opinion and information of Azerbaijani political parties' members and civil society. “No one can assert that this report is untrue,” Agazade stated.

In his turn Fazil Mustafa — Great Establishment Party MP reckons that certain steps should be undertaken for elimination of current problems in human rights.

“Some problems outlined in the report do exist in Azerbaijan, but not in that exaggerated form,” MP said.

According to the 2009 Human Rights Report on Azerbaijan, the right of citizens to peacefully change their government was restricted in the October 2008 presidential election, March referendum, and December municipal elections.
