VATICAN. – The opening ceremony of the Armenian Embassy in the Holy See of the Vatican. took place on Thursday followed by a photo exhibition devoted to St. Gregory the Illuminator.

Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri and the Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See Mikael Minasyan addressed the guests.

The speakers touched upon traditional friendly ties between Armenia and the Holy See, common cultural and spiritual heritage.

Cardinal Sandri noted that the Holy See had exceptional relations with the Armenian people which is explained by old Christian history. He expressed confidence that opening of the Embassy will help expand bilateral assistance.

The opening ceremony was attended by 350 guests, including representatives of the Vatican, diplomats, representatives of the Armenian community, delegations of Naples municipality, reporters.
