YEREVAN. – Director of the EurAsEC Institute Vladimir Lepyokhin called “outstanding” Armenian president’s statement on his country’s readiness to join Customs Union.
Vladimir Lepyokhin believes this decision is outstanding not only in terms of Russia’s interests, but Armenia itself.
“This is a crucial decision for Armenia taking into account long-term regional interests. Armenia may join the Customs Union whenever it wants. Now the country can prepare the necessary documents. Armenia must describe the conditions of accession to the Union and work on achieving the goal,” Lepyokhin said during a Friday press conference in Yerevan.
He also noted that geopolitical location may turn Armenia into a victim of a conflict; on the other hand the country has an opportunity of choosing economic development by joining Customs Union.
