RA President Serzh Sargsyan declared official Yerevan has done everything to stabilize relations with Turkey during the meeting with Armenian Diaspora youth representatives from all over the world.

“Despite the historic problems and the Genocide, we have found enough fortitude to propose establishment of diplomatic relations without precedent conditions, unblock the borders and broach the issues that we would consider essential,” Sargsyan stated.

He admitted that within a year the sides negotiated in a positive environment without any preconditions. “We have agreed on two documents. However, afterwards, some Turkish administration representatives tried to lay down conditions and link Armenian-Turkish relations with Karabakh peace process. We cannot accept any conditions anyhow. We realize that Turkey is a powerful state with a particular role in world and region, but we have to admit that are Armenians living in a free and independent country. There should be no preconditions in the 21st century, as every condition, each tougher stance incites counteraction,” President outlined.
