An art book by Turkish writer was the first translated into Armenian. A play “Esik” (Cradle) by Turkish playwright Hasan Erkek was translated by Armenian Publishers Union with the assistance of Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

“I am very pleased to translate a book on art rather than history and politics,” the Armenian translator Meline Anumyan told Hurriyet Daily News & Economic Review.

The author said that his book was published in Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan and hopes it will contribute to peace between all these countries. According to Erkek, translation and publishing of similar books is necessary for Armenian and Turkish societies to know each other better.
