YEREVAN. – The health condition of well-known actor and comedian Vardan Petrosyan, who is under arrest in connection with a road accident on October 20, is normal.

News service of the Correctional Facilities of the Armenian Ministry of Justice informed the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It stated that although Petrosyan underwent an examination at a cardiovascular medical center, he will undergo his postoperative treatment at Prison Hospital. But it is yet unknown when he will be transferred from Prison Hospital to a correctional facility, and this will depend on the speed of his recovery.  

Accident victim Tatev Hakobyan, on the other hand, is still at Trauma Ward of Armenia Medical center. Hakobyan is doing fine, but it is yet unknown when she will be discharged, a hospital representative told Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

To note, a major accident occurred on October 20 in Kotayk Region. A BMW and a VAZ 2121-model vehicle crashed at around 9:20pm on the Yeghvard-Yerevan motorway. As a result, seven people sustained injuries and were transferred to several hospitals. Among them was famous actor and comedian Vardan Petrosyan, whose liver and spleen had ruptured. His spleen was removed, his ruptured liver was stitched, and he recently was discharged from hospital. As a result of the accident, however, brothers Edgar and Eduard Hakobyan—who were passengers in the VAZ 2121—had died.

A criminal case was instituted on the incident, and Vardan Petrosyan was formally arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter. But since he had heart issues and these problems aggravated recently, the renowned actor was taken to a cardiovascular medical center. In addition, the Criminal Appellate Court of Armenia denied the petition to commute Vardan Petrosyan’s restraining order.
