Recently most Turkish high ranking servicemen, arrested February 22 on a charge planning a coup d'etat were released, however based on the prosecutors’ objections, Istanbul High Criminal Court #12 made a decision on re-arresting of 21 released, including No1 accused Lieutenant General Cetin Dogan of the Turkish Land Forces.
April 5, overall 10 people were arrested in different cities of Turkey.
March 31, as many as 19 Turkish high-ranking servicemen, arrested on February 22 on a charge of planning a coup d'etat were released. Lieutenant General Cetin Dogan of the Turkish Land Forces who also signed Sledgehammer plan is among them. Thus, only 6 out of 41 detained are under arrest. The key reason for release was lack of evidence.
According to the documents published by Turkish Taraf newspaper, Sledgehammer action plan comprised another 4 programs and after their implementation coup d’etat would be staged. The plan provided for the explosion of a mosque at the Friday prayer, landing of fighter aircrafters in Aegean Sea. The mentioned actions had to reveal weaknesses of ruling Justice and Development party.
