Another April fuss in Turkey is made around the Turkish Education Ministry's initiative on introduction of Armenian language in schools as optional subject.

One of the ministry’s representatives told Haberturk: “We try to bring our educational system into compliance with world standards. In this regard we have started the initiation of optional and required lessons on Armenian, Arabian and Hebrew languages, which corresponds to authorities’ efforts in settling relations with Armenian based on &‘zero problems with neighbors’ policy. Presently, the ministry works on this project and if approved, it will be possibly effective starting 2010-2011 academic year. Our ministry took significant steps towards educating of illegal Armenians’ children. Besides, the ministry decided to give free textbooks to Armenian schools in Istanbul.”
