RA President Srezh Sargsyan took part in an informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Kyrgyzstan, on July 31.

Participating in the meeting were also the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev welcomed his counterparts, the leaders of the CSTO member-states.

The RA presidential press office reports that the summit meeting was held at the Rukh-Ordo cultural and demographic center by Lake Issyk Kul. The leaders of the CSTO member-states exchanged views on the urgent problems of the responsibility zone and international security. The participants also discussed issues of information policy.

At a news conference following the meeting the Kyrgyz President stated that the sides held an open and constructive discussion on the issues of the security zone, particularly one of religious extremism and terrorism. The leaders of the CSTO member-states stressed the need for a coordinated information policy. They also arranged for the foundation of a youth center near Lake Issyk Kul.
