Turkish Sabah newspaper reports the details of April 12 Sargsyan-Erdogan meeting in Washington.

According to the source, in the course of 1.4-hour meeting Turkish Premier said Turkey reaffirms its commitments to the Protocols, and stressed the necessity for the parties to adhere to the documents ensuring peace in the Caucasus. Sargsyan recalled that Turkey should launch the Protocols’ ratification process, to which Erdogan parried that his country is a master of its signature, but the corresponding political atmosphere in Turkey is needed for it. He reasoned it by the fact that the adoption of Armenian Genocide Resolutions by U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Swedish Parliament, as well as RA CC judgment and the decisions annulling the Protocols by RA Parliament are a major obstacle to the ratification by Turkey. According to him, if today the Protocols are put for ratification in Turkish Parliament, they would be rejected.

RA President insisted that Turkey avoids statement on the linkage of Karabakh issue with Armenia-Turkey reconciliation. In response, Erdogan said they do not link Karabakh conflict with the process, but wish peace in the Caucasus. A decision that both countries' foreign ministers hold a meeting on April 13 was made.
