New NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in his interview to Deutsche Welle said: “In the near future I plan to visit Turkey and offer precise initiatives to strengthen partnership and cooperation with Muslim countries.”

Rasmussen is a mutable personality for Islamic world, first of all because of his position on the caricatures of Mohammed prophet in Danish press, that recently caused scandal. In particular, that was the reason Turkey opposed to the appointment of Danish Former Prime-Minister to the position of Secretary General.

Experts outline that Anders Fogh Rasmussen is appointed to the NATO position in a hard time, as Alliance experiences serious challenges.

On August 1, 2009 Former Danish Prime-Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen replaced Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
