Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev left for Kazakhstan after signing a resignation letter on April 15, a representative from Kyrgyzstan's interim government Edil Baysalov told RFE/RL.

The head of the Kyrgyz interim government Roza Otunbayeva also confirmed the information, Interfax informs.

“Bakiyev, recognizing his responsibility before the people and with the aim of preserving the state’s unity, in accordance with the related clause of the constitution, surrenders office,” Otunbayeva quoted the statement.

New Kyrgyz leader said she appealed to the United Nations asking the international community for the establishment of international commission to investigate tragic events of April 7-8,

As reported previously, the ousted Kyrgyz President together with his family members left Kyrgyzstan yesterday. In a small plane he flew from the airport of the regional centre Jalalabad to the city of Taraz in Kazakhstan.
