Referendum on switching to presidential government might be held next year in Turkey, country’s premier Erdogan said in an interview with NTV channel.
“If Turkish people vote for the presidential government, the offer is likely to be brought up at the parliament,” Turkish Premier stated.
According to Anadolu agency, Erdogan also commented on constitutional amendments, noting that they are likely to be approved by the Grand National Assembly. “If the parliament declines the amendments, the issue will be decided in a referendum,” RFE/RL quotes Erdogan. Presently, Turkish Prime Minister is elected by the parliament.
