Caspian Airlines Company does not make any comments on the report by Corriere della sera. The newspaper writes that the Tehran-Yerevan plane crashed because of a blast in the cargo compartment, which contained the arms intended for Hezbollah.
According to the newspaper, there was a large number of detonators with 2 kg of explosive. The arms intended for Hezbollah were to be transported through Armenia and Turkey to Syria and further to Lebanon.
The Caspian Airline Armenian Office informed NEWS.am they do not have precise information about the causes of air crash as ‘black boxes’ have not been transcribed yet. “However we find the suppositions irrelevant,” the airline representatives said.
Caspian Airlines Tehran-Yerevan flight crashed on July 15, 2009, 16 minutes after the take off killing 168 passengers and 15 crew members.
