Zhamanak newspaper chief editor Arman Babajanyan intends to go on hunger strike.

Presently Babajanyan is in the prison hospital with serious health problems. The doctors of the hospital can not treat him and only give painkillers. Babajanyan intends to refuse to take painkillers as well.

Despite his critical state the independent commission on conditional early discharge has not yet considered the issue of Babajanyan’s release.

Arman Babajanyan is in prison hospital, diagnosed with a brain tumour causing loss of sight. Babajanyan’s term of imprisonment (3.5 years) expires on September 16, 2009.
