Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan put off visit to Italy scheduled for April 21 due to continuous debates in the Parliament on set of constitutional amendments.
Turkish-Italian summit is to be held in Rome. Earlier, the event was postponed because of attack on Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi.
Yesterday, Turkish Parliament initiated consideration of the set of constitutional amendments, presented by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). First two amendments were adopted after the heated debates of AKP members with opposition opposing the constitutional reforms. Oppositionists reckon that the reform as it is will poison the country’s atmosphere and sharpen tensed relations of government and judicial body.
