Provincial head of Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Baki Aksoy was beaten up in Diyarbakir.
On April 20, he condemned the attack on Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, then was beaten up himself while entering the party’s office.
Same day similar incident occurred at the meeting of AKP member and Mayor of Cankiri Irfan Dinc with Sadik Yakin, businessman. Tension grew to the extent that the businessman set upon the mayor with blows. The latter was hospitalized, and the attacker — arrested.
The tradition of fisticuffs was established in Turkey in the city of Samsun last week, when the former chairman of the closed Democratic Society Party (DTP) Ahmet Turk was punched in the face.
