Opening ceremony of the Kurdish Peace and Democracy party’s representation office took place in Holiday Inn hotel in Washington. Party chairman Selahattin Demirtas, MP Emine Aina and Ahmet Turk — former leader of the dissolved Democratic Society party, as well as Kurdish community representatives from U.S. and Canada participated in the event.

In his address Selahattin Demirtas noted that new representations will enable to follow world events, Zaman reports. “Kurdish issue is the major problem in Turkey. We are exerting huge efforts to settle the issue. Kurdish problem is not only a matter of Middle East, it has become international. Opening similar offices we wish to contribute to the efforts on democratic settlement of Kurdish issue in Turkey,” Demirtas said.
