Russia and Turkey will establish a High-Level Cooperation Council, a principally new intergovernmental cooperation mechanism, headed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the article “Russia and Turkey to continue relationships beyond goals” by Dmitry Medvedev published in Turkish Zaman daily reads, Vesti 24 reports.

On May 11-12, RF President Dmitry Medvedev will pay a visit to Turkey.

“The purpose of this council is to develop a strategy on basic ways to develop Russia-Turkey relations, coordinate the implementation of critical projects and provide incentive for businessmen in both countries to cooperate with each other. Moreover, it aims to create synergy between foreign policies to ensure international peace, stability and safety. We can confidently say that Russian-Turkish relations have advanced to the level of a multidimensional strategic partnership,” the source quotes Medvedev.

“Turkey is one of our most important partners with respect to regional and international issues. We are united by the understanding of the need to fight international terrorism and other threats to our modern world and the awareness that the only option is to increase interreligious and intercultural dialogue,” he said.

“Russia sees Turkey as a reliable and sincere neighborhood with which we foresee having consolidated relations for the sake of our peoples’ prosperity,” Medvedev emphasized.
