After the Israeli operation on Mavi Marmara ship carrying humanitarian aid and 500 supporters to the Gaza Strip, Chief of the Israeli General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Ilker Basbug.

The Israeli official informed his Turkish counterpart of the details of the incident. In his turn, Basbug said that the use of the military force in the international waters is unacceptable and will lead to serious consequences, Turkish Milliyet daily reports.

According to Israeli mass media, at least 19 people were killed during the military operation. After the incident Turkey recalled its Ambassador from Israel and canceled the planned Turkish-Israeli military maneuvers.
