June 3, the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations gave no approval to a bill on recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), authored by the Heritage faction members Raffi Hovannissian, Anahit Bakhsyan, Larisa Alaverdyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan, Armen Martirosyan and Styopa Safaryan.

Speaking on behalf of the ruling coalition, Vazgen Karakhanyan of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) pointed out that neither approving nor even putting the bill on the agenda is advisable now.

The Heritage faction member Styopa Safaryan and ARF Dashnaktsutyun member Vahan Hovhannisyan voted for the bill. Commission Chairman Armen Rustamyan (ARF) abstained from voting.

At its regular sitting on June 4, the Heritage faction is to discuss the issue of holding a special discussion of the bill.
