Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are likely to propose new motions on the Karabakh conflict settlement. Mammadyarov informed the OSCE MG Co-Chairs of Azerbaijan’s readiness to hold meetings “if the Armenian shows a sincere desire for progress,” Azerbaijani APA agency reports.

As to the possibility of another Armenian-Azerbaijani presidential meeting, the Minister noted the last meeting was held in Sochi.

He pointed out that, for some reasons, the Co-Chairs proposed an interval in the negotiations, which, however, “has lasted for too long.”

“I understand the Co-Chairs’ desire to intensify the negotiations. The document – the three co-chairs worked at it – is actually ready and is on the negotiating table,” Mammadyarov said. He restated that the document has been agreed with sides for two years. It is no mere chance that, at the G8 Summit in Italy, the leaders of the OSCE MG Co-Chairing countries stressed that the six principles reflected the co-chairs’ common position, the Azeri FM said. Azerbaijan worked at and is acquainted with the document, which does not contain anything new for them, Mammadyarov said.

Now it is the Armenian side’s turn to determine its position. The OSCE MG Co-Chairs have to inform the Armenian side of Azerbaijan’s position, discuss the situation, thereafter they will probably make new proposals.
