By the year 2012 Azerbaijani citizens will receive biometric passports produced by the Swedish company Trub, the Trend news agency reports, referring to Deputy Head of the State Population Register Service, Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice, Mehdi Najafov.

"After 2012, Azerbaijan's citizens will not be able to travel to Europe and America with the old passports. The state program provides for the adoption of relevant laws, creation of information security systems, and issuance of biometric passports," Najafov said.
