The parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has thwarted the initiative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), which proposed that the RA Government prepare a report on the state of Armenia’s gas sector within 60 days.

RPA Chairman Galust Sahakyan stated that the faction will not take part in the voting though the issue is a topical one. The faction does not consider the present format of discussions advisable.

The RA Parliament plans to a special sitting immediately after its session.

The ARF faction asked the RA Government to explain its policy of gas import and consumption control. The Government was also asked to explain ArmRusgasprom’s pricing policy, provide the information on the company’s financial audit and taxes. The recent rise in the gas prices worsened the socio-economic situation in the country.
