The EU Heads of Mission in Armenia welcome the willingness of the RA government to hold public consultations on the draft amendments to the law regulating the broadcasting sector, reads the statement issued by EU Delegation on behalf of the EU heads of missions in Armenia. The statement says the EU Heads of Missions also welcome the fact that some positive changes have been introduced to the text currently under discussion, in line with recommendations by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the Council of Europe and civil society.

“The EU Heads of Mission encourage the government and legislators to continue working closely with civil society, the Council of Europe and the OSCE experts with a view to bring the law further in line with international standards to enhance plurality in the Armenian media and to promote media freedom,” the EU Heads of Missions noted.

The bill on amendments to the law on TV and radio broadcasting is discussed in the RA National Assembly.
